AI assistants
Connect an AI assistant (MCP)
Sitefar runs an MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other assistants can look after your WordPress sites: "Which of my sites need attention?", "Update everything except WooCommerce on my client sites."
The address
Use this URL in any MCP client that supports remote servers (Streamable HTTP):
https://app.sitefar.com/mcpThe first time, your assistant opens a Sitefar page asking you to sign in and approve it. You choose what it may do and which sites it may use.
Claude (desktop and web)
- Go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- Name it Sitefar and paste the address above. Leave the OAuth fields empty.
- Click Connect and approve the permissions and sites in Sitefar.
- In a chat, enable the Sitefar connector from the tools menu.
ChatGPT
In Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced, turn on developer mode, then Create a connector with the address above and OAuth authentication. Approve it in Sitefar, then enable it in a chat.
Cursor
Add Sitefar to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or a project's .cursor/mcp.json):
{
"mcpServers": {
"sitefar": { "url": "https://app.sitefar.com/mcp" }
}
}Cursor opens the Sitefar sign-in page the first time it uses the server.
Permissions
When you approve an assistant, you choose what it can do:
- See your sites (
read): sites, plugins, themes, pending updates, backups, menus, Site Kit reports and activity. Also dry runs that show what an update would change. - Maintain plugins and themes (
update): update, undo, activate and deactivate, install from wordpress.org, back up, sync, and build or edit menus. - Delete plugins and themes (
delete): remove inactive plugins and themes, and delete menus. - Update WordPress (
core): install WordPress core updates.
You also choose which sites it can use. Another account's sites are never visible.
Stay in control
- Pause all agent actions in Settings → Agent actions stops every connected assistant from changing anything until you resume. Reading still works.
- Settings → Connected apps lists every assistant and token with what it may do. Revoke any of them there.
- Every change an assistant makes appears in Activity as via that assistant.
- Limits: 300 reads per 10 minutes and 60 changes per hour per connection.
Example prompts
- Which of my sites have updates waiting, and do they have recent backups?
- Update all plugins on my client sites except WooCommerce, and tell me what changed.
- Undo yesterday's Elementor update on Forma Studio.
- Add the Pricing page to the main menu on Forma Studio.
- How did Forma Studio's search traffic do over the last 28 days?
Scripts and other tools
For scripts that use the Sitefar API, create a personal token in Settings → Connected apps. It's shown once; give it only the permissions it needs, and an expiry date.
